Roots Diktamo - Wild Herbs Liqueur
Explore the Roots Diktamo is the Greek amaro, with the herb Diktamo (Origanum Dictamnus or dittany of Crete), known in Cretan dialect as Έρωντας (erontas, “love”, for it aphrodisiac properties). It is a healing, therapeutic and aromatic tender perennial plant, and among other Greek herbs such as mountain tea, liquorice and others form a bittersweet contemporary amaro. In Ancient Greece, Hippocrates prescribed dittany and other Greek herbs to aid all kinds of illnesses and Aristotle and Theophrastus all extolled the virtues of the ‘miracle cure’ plant in various ancient writings.
A cerebral & layered taste combining harmonically herbal profusion with fruity subtleness. It gives a firm & gently bitter mouthfeel, mimicking the sense of a 'sweet velvet' texture. Peaty richness contrasted with herbal freshness, with a noticeable spirity entourage
How to Enjoy
Serve neat or over ice as a digestif. Also excellent with a splash of sparkling water or as an herbal base in creative cocktails.
