Mataroa - Mediterranenan Dry Gin 700ml

With ninety-five years of experience, the Melissanidis distillery embarked on a new venture, creating a Greek Mediterranean gin made using select fruits and botanicals. Indicatively, it includes lavender from France, chamomile from Cyprus, mandarin from Morocco, mastiha from Greece, iris root from Italy, and orange from Spain. All of these, combined with natural water from the springs of Mount Kaimaktsalan, result in an exceptional final product.

Expecting bright Mediterranean citrus to burst from the bottle, it is actually the savoury, liquorice and chamomile notes that are at the forefront on the nose with an abundance of piney juniper. This character also starts off on the palate before revealing depth and complexity as mandarin and lavender shine through with bay leaf giving balance. The mouthfeel is smooth and relatively dry, with a long, lingering finish that sees lemon peel and orange peel flavour emerging further.

Best Served: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Orange or Thyme, or in a Bramble or Negroni.
